Fitness Tips For Every guy

August 18th, 2011 No comments

Knowledge is power, baby.

It’s also the secret to a powerful body, as you’re about to find out. In our never-ending mission to get you in the greatest shape of your life, we’ve grilled the world’s top experts, combed our own archives, and even eavesdropped on some cell-phone conversations to find 100 perfect fitness training tips— small gems that will make a huge difference in any man’s life.

Get ready: You’re about to feel the power—and have the body to show for it.

Swim Faster

To build speed in swimming, develop your ankle flexibility. Flexible feet will act like flippers and propel you faster through the water. To increase your flipper flex, do this: Sit on the floor with your shoes off. Extend your legs in front of you, heels on the floor. Point your toes straight out as far as possible, then flex them toward your shins as far as you can. Repeat for 1 minute

Test the Bench

Press your thumb into the bench before lifting. “If you can feel the wood, find another bench,” says Ken Kinakin, a chiropractor in Canada and founder of the Society of Weight-Training Injury Specialists. Hard benches can cause T4 syndrome—a misalignment of your thoracic spine that affects the nerve function of your arm, weakening it.

Strengthen Your Core

Don’t be afraid of situps. We’ve changed our tune on these, and here’s why: Situps increase your range of motion, which makes your abdominals work harder and longer. (Doing crunches on a Swiss ball or with a rolled-up towel under your lower back has a similar effect.) Just avoid situps with anchored feet, which can hurt your lower back.

Exercise in Order

Use dumbbells, barbells, and machines—in that order. “The smaller, stabilizer muscles you use with dumbbells fatigue before your larger muscle groups,” says Charles Staley, a strength coach in Las Vegas. So progress to machines, which require less help from your smaller muscles, as you grow tired.

Grow Muscle, Save Time

Keep your weight workouts under an hour. After 60 minutes, your body starts producing more of the stress hormone cortisol, which can have a testosterone-blocking, muscle-wasting effect.

Don’t Drop the Ball

To catch a pop fly in the sun, use your glove to shade your eyes. It’s bigger than your free hand and puts the leather in perfect position to snag the ball.

Keep Muscles Limber

If you’re under 40, hold your stretches for 30 seconds. If you’re over 40, hold them for 60 seconds. As you reach your 40s, your muscles become less pliable, so they need to be stretched longer.

Protect Your Neck

Put your tongue on the roof of your mouth when you do crunches. “It will help align your head properly, which helps reduce neck strain,” says Michael Mejia, C.S.C.S., Men’s Health exercise advisor.

Build Better Abs

Don’t work your abdominal muscles every day. “Physiologically, your abs are like any other muscle in your body,” says David Pearson, Ph.D., C.S.C.S., an exercise scientist at Ball State University. Train them only 2 or 3 days a week.

5 Fast Stress-Busters

August 18th, 2011 No comments

Reward your body. Regular exercise or relaxation techniques like yoga and massage will keep cortical naturally in check by releasing beta-endorphins, brain chemicals that give you a calming effect.

Start strong. A recent study from Wales shows that regular consumption of breakfast cereal is associated with reduced stress and improved physical and mental health. Those who ate cereal daily had lower levels of cortical. On the Abs Diet, that means oatmeal and bran cereals.

Snuff out the midnight oil. Regularly working overtime may inflate your weight. The stress of a string of 12-hour days can cause a spike in cortical that stimulates hunger.

Fight with fish. That is, integrate more salmon and tuna into your life. When Swiss researchers fortified men’s diets with omega-3 fatty acids (fats found in fish), levels of cortical remained unchanged during stress tests.

Get up and get out. A recent Australian study discovered that workers whose jobs require more than 6 hours of chair time a day are up to 68 percent more likely to wind up overweight or obese.

Solid Colored Men’s Dress Shirts

August 18th, 2011 No comments

It is common to find men choosing white for their solid colored men’s dress shirts. We believe that it is the easiest with other outfits as well as creating a formal appearance. That is true, but partially.
There is an aspect that we need to take note of which is the skin tone as well as the hair color of the man. Imagine a blond man with fair-colored skin tone in a white shirt.
The direction of focus will on the shirt or tie rather than his face. The white shirt is not able enhance his overall light colored skin tone. Still white dress shirts are important basic business apparel for every man.
To make your white dress shirts more interesting, then a choice of either Twill white shirt or Herringbone white shirt would provide good subtle texture to your overall monochromatic feel.
Solid colored men’s dress shirts against the skin tone and hair color is supposed to bring the focal point to the man’s face, not the shirt. It applies similarly to patterned shirts as well.
White is not the only ultimate choice for solid colored men’s dress shirts, I would say blue color is the other must-have color for every men’s dress shirts. It has the best blend into almost every men’s skin tone and hair color.
It never seems to go wrong wearing a blue dress shirt to provide a warmer and richer overtone for any skin tone than white dress shirts. Therefore, men’s wardrobe of dress shirts should be made up mainly of two colors: white and blue; and I would say at least 3/5 should be these colors.
Can all blue tones fit different skin tones and hair colors? Generally the best choice is going for medium blue and the suitable shade of medium should always bring the focus toward your face.
Men with tan or olive skin tones with contrasting hair color can afford to wear darker blue tones.
Fair skin men with dark colored hair have the best advantage in their choice of blue tones. Basically all the shades of blue are suitable for them especially the medium to dark blue tones.
Men with light colored hair and fair skin has to settle for light and soft blue hues. The overall blend between their hair and skin creates a muted contrast and the lighter blues will balance out this low contrast.
Solid colored men’s dress shirts like pink have a feminine touch to it. These colors generally suits men with fair skin especially flattering for those with pinkish hue over their fair skin. Pink broadcloth dress shirts have been a very popular choice for Wall Street bankers and stockbrokers.
Tan colored men’s dress shirts blend very easily for men with low difference between their skin tone and hair color. It is also a great color to match with dark brown suits creating a nice layering of these two colors.
Yellow and gold colors are not suitable for men with pale skin tone, but look great for blonde hair men or brown and dark skin tone men. It brings out the radiance on these men’s face. It is also an easy color to match against brown suits and even gray or navy suits.
On the formality scale for solid colored men’s dress shirts, white still stands out as the most formal followed by blue broadcloth. Blue chambray would be the next formal choice. The sequence thereafter would be pink, yellow or gold, tan, and lastly green.
Other very daring shades to choose for solid colored men’s dress shirts would be red and orange. Note that these colors are much more of a trendy choice and might not be able to withstand the ever changing fashion trends.
Having a wide array of colorful shades for solid colored men’s dress shirts can allow a nice play against mens suits. It gives a less formal touch and fits perfectly into our new era of casual business wear making these bright solid colored men’s dress shirts power shirts.

Find Trendy Clothes on a Budget

August 10th, 2011 No comments

.Shop at discount designer stores such as TJ Maxx, Marshalls, or DSW Shoe Warehouse. Discount is not a dirty word. It does not mean cheap or unfashionable. Many don’t realize that these stores only carry designer labels. You can find the latest trends for 25 to 70 percent off the original prices. You may have to search through some racks and the store may not be as aesthetically pleasing, but you can be sure to find trendy fashionable styles that you can afford.
Compare prices at several different online stores before purchasing. Do an online search for discount designer fashions. You will discover a plethora of choices. Therefore its important to take your time and comparison shop in order to find the best prices possible.
Take a hint from the kids today. Stores know that young people usually like the fashions that are popular in current magazines, so they recreate the styles for a fraction of the cost. Search through the racks at your teenagers favorite stores, and you will be sure to find at least a few items that may not carry a designer label, but are made relatively well, are in fashion and fit in your budget. You may have to go up a size, as the clothes for teens run a little smaller.
Purchase “In-Style” Magazine, pick up a needle and thread, and copy the looks of the stars, or take the pictures to a tailor and have them made if you are not a whiz at stitching. The latest trends can often be recreated for a fraction of the cost depending on the item. Why pay for a name, when you can make the exact same thing yourself.
Visit major department store websites such as “Nordstrom” and “Saks Fifth Avenue”, and search their sale sections. It is much easier to find affordable trendy clothes in these store’s online sale sections than in the actual stores. Online they offer larger sales, and the items are categorized according to type. If you are looking for a particular article of clothing, you can search for that item alone, and find many affordable choices. Search for “tops” at a department store’s online sale section and you will find a large selection of tops for 10 to 70 percent off the original prices

Get Stresses Free Look Fresh

August 10th, 2011 No comments

If you’re looking forward to unwinding after a grueling work week with a cold brew, hold off on happy hour for 30 minutes: Drinking while stressed out actually prolongs your anxiety—even when you limit yourself to two—according to a study at the University of Chicago.
Researchers had 25 men perform a standardized stress task that involved 5 minutes of public speaking followed by 5 minutes of mental arithmetic. Immediately afterward, they were given an IV blood infusion of 5 percent alcohol (the equivalent of taking two shots) to bypass the varying ways different people process liquor.
Within a half hour, the alcohol group reported feeling nearly three times as anxious as people who performed the stressful activities but hadn’t received the alcohol infusion. They also continued feeling more stressed for another hour.
What’s more, blood tests revealed that the alcohol blocked the release of the hormone cortisol from the adrenal glands, which is the body’s normal response to stress. “That stress response is designed to help you to deal with whatever is causing stress and then get the body back to normal,” says study author Emma Childs, Ph.D. “So alcohol effectively interrupts your body’s ability to cope and makes you stay anxious for longer.”
There’s a silver lining: It doesn’t take much time to let cortisol do its trick and for you to calm down. When researchers gave the alcohol infusion to a group 30 minutes after the stress tasks, their anxiety continued to drop and stayed low for the next hour.
So take a little time for yourself after work before you meet up with the crew for happy hour. Run errands, hit the gym, or say you’ll meet them a little later.

Men’s Grooming

August 10th, 2011 No comments

Since men spend most of their time at work and out of the house. They need to have the appropriate look that keeps them look fresh and healthy throughout the day. For all the men who need some grooming tips should follow some basic tips such as not just relying on the shaving cream for a smooth shave rather using some good shaving pre and post shave so that you get less ingrown hair and smoother shave.
Another important thing that is a part of men’s grooming is to avoid the dandruff being visible, so you should make sure you use the specialized shampoo and keep this problem under the wraps. Besides that using a good moisturizer with SPF is also very important part of men’s grooming. Little bit of exposure to the sun might cause sunburn so you should use an SPF moisturizer. Try and look good and keep yourself groomed by using the sunglasses for the sun and a good eye cream for avoiding premature wrinkles around the eyes.
Try and take some time out to groom your body as well by joining the gym and playing outdoor games. Besides that when you go to gym carry a pair of flip flops to avoid athlete’s foot by keeping the feet dry and clean.
For styling your hairs if you need a wet look, try using a gel product and if you want to sport a messier, bed-head look, use a pomade to work through your locks. This way you would keep your hair well groomed. It is important for men to focus on your look as well; they should focus on their own grooming so that they look better day by day.

Tips To Improve Your Fashion Style

August 10th, 2011 No comments

Fashion is a topic that preoccupies men more and more these days. They have realized that looking good is not a department that the ladies have exclusive control over. A sense of fashion is an asset in every aspect of a man’s life: business, personal and social.

While there are still some that will try to fight it, the reality is that a well-dressed man will get a second look. Personality is important, but no one takes a quick look at you and says, “Wow — check out the sense of humor on that guy.”

In today’s world, to stay one step ahead, it’s important to look your best. That means developing your own sense of style. For a lot of men, that’s a scary thought. But fear not, I’m here to guide you through it.

1- Listen to the experts
I’ve met far too many men who have gone through life having their style dictated to them by their mothers, then by their girlfriends, and then by their wives. There are also those men who escaped the trap of wearing someone else’s style only to find themselves with no style whatsoever.

If you’ve never taken a shot at creating your own style, a good place to start is with the experts. Pick up a copy of a men’s fashion magazine or log on to AskMen.com. Instead of flipping straight to the sports editorial or the babe of the month, check out the fashion section.

Read a few articles and you’ll soon find that you’ve picked up most of the basic rules: don’t wear light socks with dark shoes, always match your shoes with your belt, never wear anything too tight.

While you’re checking out those mags, check out the ads that you usually skip over. They’ll give you a good idea of where the trends are heading. Which brings us to tip two…

2- Get with the trends
Fashion is all about evolving style. What’s in, what’s out. What’s new, what’s pass. What’s hot, what’s not. But put all those clichs aside and being stylish is about looking good. It’s also about knowing what to wear right now.

But with trends changing faster than you can say fashion faux pas, how can men be expected to keep up?

A good place to start is to take a look at popular artists from the music, movie and TV industries. Look around for trendsetters and take some tips from them. In particular, check out what they wear during awards shows and adapt it to your style.

The clothes worn by the actors on TV shows like The OC , Las Vegas and most daytime soaps (ask your girlfriend about these) are generally good examples of what is acceptable dress.

If you’ve flipped through all the fashion mags, watched TV, tried wandering down the streets, and have still come up empty, you will never go wrong emulating the threads of celebrities such as Pierce Brosnan, Denzel Washington, Tom Cruise, and Will Smith.
3- Go retro
Fashion is a cyclical concept. What was once old will soon be new again. Remember when you were chastised for wearing your aviator sunglasses? Well, now you can wear them with confidence because they’re back.

While renewing one’s wardrobe is important, throwing old stuff out isn’t always a good idea. With vintage clothing being very trendy right now, you may be able to dig through some of your old clothes and find something that you never would have dreamed you could wear again.

Things to look for include logo T-shirts, patterned button-down shirts and motorcycle-style jackets. Once your favorite wardrobe items, they’re back in style… and you need to enjoy them while the trend lasts.

4- Stay in shape
Fashion is not just about what you wear, it’s also about how you wear it. Take the same threads and put them on two different people: one who’s in good shape and athletic, and another who has a beer gut, round shoulders and a sunken chest. No matter what the clothes are, they’ll look better on the first guy.

Taking better care of your body can be as simple as making a few minor changes to your diet and spending a couple of hours at the gym every week. The related benefits of being healthier are that you’ll feel better about your body, be more confident and, therefore, look better. Attitude stems from confidence, and a large part of style is attitude.

5- Be yourself
The most important aspect of developing your own style is remaining true to yourself. Just because something looked great on that Versace model doesn’t necessarily mean it’s for you. If you’re uncomfortable in it, chances are it isn’t.

There are enough styles out there that everyone should be comfortable finding their own. Even if you discover that your own style isn’t mainstream, you’re better off respecting that realization than walking around in a sheep suit that doesn’t fit.
Fix Your Fashion
The ultimate point is that developing your own style should not be a chore; it should be fun. When you discover what works for you, you’ll see that striving to look your best isn’t work at all. It should come naturally.
